THE FEAST OF SEVEN FISHES

The traditional meal served in Italian households on Christmas Eve named for the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. It is a night of fasting in which no meat should be served. In our family, we must have at least thirteen Items of food on the table, as this represented Jesus and the twelve Apostles. Regardless of the religious symbolism, the real point of the meal was to give thanks and gather with family and friends around “The Italian Table”.

Pan roasted wild north atlantic salmon over stewed lentils with balsamic reduction

Stuffed Filet
Local flounder with crab meat stuffing, topped with sautéed jumbo shrimp and lemon burr blanc

Whole lobster in a spicy plum tomato sauce, garnished with mussels and clams served over linguine

Pollo or Vitello Sorrentino
